Characteristics
Plants
erect with well defined holdfast. Frond 10-15 cm or more in height,
flat 5-6 mm broad, linear, branched repeatedly dichotomously, midrib
distinct, occuring throughout the length of the frond; lower part
of midrib blackish, stiff, 0.5 1 mm thick; higher above becoming paler;
at extremities fading to the colour of the frond; surface of frond
perforated on both the sides by minute pores which are scattered;
apex of frond bifid with obtuse segments. Margin of frond, denate,
undulating; base of the frond the membranous portion worn out by wave
action, the midrib alone remain naked; the colour of the plant is
pale brown, olive green inged with yellow; fructification in a narrow
belt close to midrib on both side of it.
